The U-19 Recreational Girls Age Group will be holding their regularly scheduled games and a fundraiser for Maya Shapiro and her family on Sunday, April 22nd.
Maya is 15 years old and has been a player with HMMS since the age of seven as both a travel and recreational player. Unfortunately, earlier this year Maya was diagnosed with a rare type of Acute Myeloid Leukemia that is a very fast and aggressive form of cancer. Due to this diagnosis Maya is undergoing treatment at Hershey Medical Center. This treatment requires her to live at the hospital full time. Because Maya can not leave the hospital for any extended periods of time due to the risk of infection, her family has been spending a great deal of time with her at the hospital.
HMMS would like to show its’ support for Maya and her family both emotionally, and if possible, financially by holding a “Maya Day” for the U-19 Girls age group. HMMS will be providing tee-shirts for the HMMS teams and for Maya and her family. The tee-shirts will have a soccer theme on the front and a “#TEAM MAYA” on the back.
This event will take place between the 1:00 and 2:40 games at the Eagle View Middle School Turf field
