INVITATION

The Hampden Middlesex Monroe Silver Spring (HMMS) Soccer Club is sponsoring the 30th Annual Hampden Memorial Day Soccer Tournament on Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-27, 2012.  The tournament will be held in and around Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania (close to Harrisburg).  HMMS is a member of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League (CPYSL) and the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) along with Philadelphia Girls Soccer (PAGS) and (DELCO).  The tournament is USSF approved and this tournament is open to both travel and classic teams.

The Tournament’s new World Cup format features two rounds of play.

Qualification Round: Teams will be randomly placed into Four Team Pools for a round-robin tournament format during which each team plays three 20-minute games. Teams are awarded points based on their wins, losses, and ties. Total points earned are used to seed the teams into Eight Team Divisions for the Championship round of play.

Championship Round: Each eight team division will start its own series of championship elimination games on Saturday afternoon. The four winning teams will advance into Sunday’s winners’ bracket and the four losing teams will move into the losers’ bracket. In Sunday’s Championship round’s elimination format; one team will advance from the losers’ bracket to challenge the team from the winners’ bracket for the division championship. Teams will play at least 3 championship round games. All games are now 40-minute games and drawn matches are decided by a Shootout format.

Application for invitations will be accepted from Boys and Girls Club and Travel Teams only as follows:

Note:  The Tournament Committee may need to move teams up to the next age group dependent upon the number of applicants.  If the need occurs it will be discussed with the affected teams prior to implementing.

Eligibility

You may enter a U-9 through U-12 (8v8) boys or girls team with a maximum of 14 players; a maximum of 18 players for a U-12 through U-14 (11v11) boys or girls team. Teams and players must be registered with a national affiliate of the USSF, typically either US Club Soccer or with their respective state or national association (US Youth Soccer, AYSO, etc), and must be born during or after the year indicated by the Age Division in which they are to compete.

U-09 through U-12 (8v8) are allowed a maximum of two(2) guest players.

U-12 through U-14 (11v11) are allowed a maximum of three(3) guest players. 

Authorized player passes/cards will be verified against the official team roster at registration.

  • Teams from outside Region I or Connecticut and New Jersey must have a "Permission to Travel Form signed and stamped by their Association if registering using US Youth Soccer credentials.
  • No such permission to travel is required for teams traveling as US Club Soccer registered teams.
Registration

Mandatory team registration will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday May 25th (no exceptions).  Teams will be required to present player passes, certified state rosters, guest player forms (if applicable), and medical release forms for each player at registration.  Permission to Travel forms for Non-USYS Region I sanctioned teams are to be received by May 1, 2012.

Awards:

All teams and players will receive awards.

Individual player trophies will be awarded to all division champions, second, third & fourth place teams.

Fifth through eighth place teams will receive individual medals.

Application

The Tournament entry fee’s are listed below:

  • U09 through U11 Teams = $ 550 
  • U12 through U14 Teams = $ 575        

A check or money order made payable to HMMS Soccer must be submitted as outlined on the application form. The tournament selection committee on a space available basis will accept teams. Each age group space is limited so apply online as soon as possible.

The Tournament fee is non-refundable after team selections have been announced. Teams not accepted will be notified and money promptly refunded. 

Early submission is recommended.  Hotel rooms are at a premium. It is recommended that reservations be made prior to application. We have partnered with PYB Sports to assist with the hotel selection and reservation process. All teams requiring hotel accommodations are encouraged to book rooms through PYB Sports. Using this service ensures that room demands can be met from year to year and allows PYB to offer the added protection of "no hotel cancellation fees" in the event that the tournament is cancelled in its entirety, by tournament officials, due to severe weather. Those who wait until after acceptance may have difficulty in finding accommodations. Lack of hotel accommodations will not be grounds for a refund.
