HMMS Impact Wins Outdoor Cup

HMMS Impact won the Outdoor Cup final yesterday with a 3-0 win over Ukrainian Nationals Helios Black.  The girls scored in the first two minutes to start the game 1-0 with a goal from Caroline S and continued to put the pressure on Black. However, their opponents never gave up, and had several strong scoring opportunities, but Impact's strong team play kept them out of the net.  Abbie M, Impact's keeper for the game, had many good saves in the net, and directed defense during the game.

On the offensive side, Impact took many shots, but the equally tough Helios Black defense made it challenging to finish.  Impact's midfielders and wings set up the ball multiple times, giving Impact scoring chances and keeping the pressure on Ukrainian Nationals.  Towards the end of the first half Rachel M scored on a penalty kick to take the team into half-time up 2-0.

Towards the end of the second half Rachel M scored her second goal of the game to put Impact ahead 3-0 when the whistle blew.

This was a tremendous team effort by all of the girls to make it through the many rounds of Outdoor Cup play, the semi-finals, and to win the Outdoor Cup itself.  This was their first trip to the Outdoor Cup finals, held at United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, PA.

Impact will next be competing in the HMMS Memorial Day Tournament.
